Friendship Weekends

Friendship weekends are an excellent means of getting to know others from NBBC better. Food, fun and fellowship are a brilliant combination to help foster friendships. Participants can nominate to host or be guests and then people/families are matched up accordingly. These weekend are held 3-4 times each year. Listen out during our service announcements for when the next event is. Whether you are new to North Beach or are a long time member, all are encouraged to participate.

Friendship weekends are one way we grow and encourage hospitality at North Beach Baptist through sharing meals together but we encourage everyone involved in our church to practise hospitality at anytime through the year.

Join a Growth Group

Growth Groups are the key to getting connected with the church and being encouraged in following Jesus. They are small groups of like-minded people who share, laugh, cry and serve together, because life’s better together. Jesus is at the center and the Bible is the focus of all our groups. Therefore our groups usually work their way through books of the Bible.

There are numerous groups that meet throughout the week at different times and places scattered around the northern suburbs of Perth. Most groups meet on a week day evening. Several ladies groups meet during the day.

Here are some of our current groups, which you are welcome to join:

World Missions wp globe

North Beach Baptist church is all about one thing – the gospel - the amazing, life changing message of our Lord Jesus Christ. Motivated by our Lord’s calling in Matthew 28, we want to see this message go out not only into our community, but also into all four corners of the globe.

Rather than ‘Missions’ just being a ‘department’ of North Beach, we want our church to have a missional mindset and a lifestyle to be cultivated to permeate all areas of our church family and to be involved as a church with those, who are sharing this message of Christ’s love to the world.

In this way, North Beach Baptist partners with individuals and organisations operating in many different cultural settings, geographies and demographics around the world. As a church, we support them financially, we pray for them, we communicate with and encourage them, we share their news with one another and, on some occasions, we visit them in their work. As missionaries, they share their news with us, and encourage us with what God is through them.

NBBC has formally sent many missionaries and adopted many mission partners for prayerful and operating support including (for security reasons, names are not mentioned):

  • Asia Evangilistic Fellowship (The international Director and a national field worker in Myanmar and India). We have a particularly strong link with ministry in North East India.
  • Overseas Missionary Fellowship (The State Director, and workers in Thailand and Japan).
  • Pioneers (workers in Indonesia)
  • Service Fellowship International (a worker in North Asia)
  • Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students (staff worker)
  • Gideon's International
  • Reach Beyond (formally HCJB)
  • YouthCARE (school chaplaincy)

How can I be involved?

  1. You can take an interest in and pray for our mission partners.
Our church provides regular prayer updates for our missionaries – look out for them! Our mission partners are regularly promoted throughout the year, especially in Missions Month (May). The latest information on all of our missions partners is available through the pamphlet board (in the passage way to the crèche area, just off the foyer).
  2. We gather for breakfast and prayer for missions on the first Saturday of each month. Everyone is welcome.
  3. Consider giving directly to our mission partners.
We always put aside a fixed amount of our regular giving to go directly to our mission partners. However, you may also feel lead to give to them directly. This can be done with individual mission partners, or simply by placing an envelope in the offering bag clearly marked with their name(s).
  4. Encourage and communicate with our mission partners.
Our mission partners always appreciate hearing from their supporters back home. You can write to them, email them or, as the opportunities present themselves, even consider going to visit them!
  5. We also regularly engage in Short Term mission trips, to grow our understanding of and commitment to mission and to assist with mission related ministry.

Find a Place to Serve

In the Bible it is clear that we are not saved by works but through grace, and serving is really one apsect of grace, after all we are naturally inclined to serve ourselves alone. So we encourage you to serve wholeheartedly and joyfully for Christ has done the hard work already, and be encouraged and warned by the words in John 15:

I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.    John 15:1-4

There are many places to serve at North Beach Baptist Church. We believe serving one another is an integral part of being a Christian and is championed by Christ Himself throughout His life, teachings and death of the cross. Serving one another is one appropriate response to God's grace to us through Jesus and we encourage you to prayerfully consider one or more areas below. This is a perfect way to get to know people around the Church and a great way to really recongize your spiritual blessings that God has given you.
