What is our purpose?

Our purpose as an Inters youth group is to reach and mature young people for Christ.

Jesus said:

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

We make disciples by reaching and maturing. This means that the Inters young people are to come into salvation through Jesus Christ and then begin and continue to grow in their faith, seeking to be used by God to reach and mature others also.

There are many different applications of this:

• We need to remember who we are doing it for, Jesus.
• Youth leadership is not about our selves, it is about building God’s Kingdom.
• Doing it for Jesus means we are ultimately responsible to him for our actions.
• We, as youth leaders, are ambassadors for God’s Kingdom.
• The great commission is clear that we need to make disciples.
• That means we need to both reach and mature as a youth ministry.
• It doesn’t necessarily mean that we have to do both at the same time, but both these elements need to be part of our overall strategy.

We see reaching and maturing of young people not just confined to the region of North Beach.

Our strategy covers:

• Young people within the local North Beach region
• Young people within our State and Nation
• Young people around the globe

Therefore our purpose of reaching and maturing has a GLOCAL (local and global) nature.

Where and when we meet:
Juniors meets in the North Beach Baptist Undercroft between 7.30pm and 10.00pm every Friday night of the school term.

Ages Involved:
Juniors is for years 11 & 12 at high school.

There is no cost to attend our inters youth group, however some activities may have costs involved (eg cinema, bowling, etc).
