Covid-19

Important Letter from NBBC’s Elders and Deacons

This letter (here) covers some very important things with respect to how we can adapt to this period of Covid-19.

News update re Covid-19 disruptions

 UPDATED: 5:00am  24 March 2020

North Beach Baptist Church is seeking to respond wisely and calmly to the Covid-19 crisis, carefully maximizing opportunities to remain connected to each other and to keep growing as disciples of Jesus.

It is easy for us all to panic and be self-focused at times like this. But God is our master and remains in supreme control. So we have a unique, powerful way to stay calm – we are to trust God and do good. And God’s promise of peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7) magnificently stands, as always.

We believe that meeting together matters a lot. But we need to be sensible in how we meet – for our sake, the sake of the community and for the sake of our health care system and workers. This has led us to cancel all gatherings of more than 2-3 people, effective immediately.

This is a time for advancing not retreating.

It is our hope and prayer that we excel in caring for one another and our community. We will be continually providing encouragements and helps to this end.

By 8.00am every Sunday, a video of our church service will be available on line – in various formats, including directly from our Website. We strongly and lovingly encourage you to watch this video… this will be a valuable tool to keep us growing and to keep us unified.

We highly value communicating up to date information. If you are new to NBBC or have changed contact details or want to connect with NBBC, please email current details to admin@nbbc.org.au ASAP, letting us know your name, email address and mobile number. This will be enormously helpful to you and to our whole community.

Here are some more specific details about NBBC cancellations and changes:

  • All Sunday gatherings, Share-In, Ignite Youth, Brigades, the men’s BBQ (21/3), ‘The Least of These’ movie night (28/3), Women’s Retreat (3-5/3), Easter celebrations, May Mission Seminar and Kings Club 2020, have been cancelled.
  • Growth Groups will no longer meet, other than potentially some singles joining together in groups of 2-3. Also, we are encouraging groups to ‘meet’ at a set time via a digital technology such as Zoom. The same will probably unfold for Titus 2 groups.
  • There will continue (for the time being) to be a church staff presence in the church building.
